Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a major film company and introducing viewers to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip shows the badge pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
